Today’s MedKit takes on red induced sexual signaling, uncovers drugs that stimulate gambling addiction and present you with a future where poliovirus could very well be the cure for cancer.
Red Raises Sexual Perception and Desire
The color red is deeply tied to our biological heritage and is an effective sexual signal, perceived at a subconscious level and which directly influences our sexual perception of potential mates. It is important to note that today’s marketing and propaganda has only deepened our sexual ties to the color red. In this day and age, we can safely say that both women and men associate the color red with romance, passion and other more “raw” desires.
For human males, red is associated with increased sexual attractiveness.
Compared to the other chromatic and achromatic colors, red pushes men to view women as more sexually desirable and attractive, modifying sexual perception and acting as a sexual signal.
Women that are associated with a red context or object are seen as more lustful and sensual.

Drug-induced Compulsive Gambling
Dopamine receptor agonists are drugs used to treat Restless Leg Syndrome and Parkinson’s Disease, which have been shown to cause pathological gambling, hypersexuality and compulsive shopping.
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that normally helps regulate emotions, movement and feelings of pleasure.
In people that suffer from Parkinson’s disease, the cells responsible for the secretion of dopamine die over time. Dopamine receptor agonists are utilised in order to mimic the functions of the lacking neurotransmitter.
In one study researchers documented 1 580 case reports (in 22 countries) of people experiencing pathological gambling and hypersexuality after taking dopamine receptor agonists treatment between 2003 and 2012.
Is Polio The Cure For Cancer ?
The team from Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center in North Carolina, USA is currently using a genetically modified strain of Poliovirus in the attempt to find a cure for cancer, more exactly brain tumors.
The genetically engineered poliovirus named PVS-RIPO naturally infects almost all cancer cells. This phenomenon occurs due to the fact that most solid tumor cells present an abnormally large amount of receptor for the poliovirus.
PVS-RIPO is introduced directly into the tumor through a catheter under sterile conditions in the Neuro-Surgical ICU.
Once PVS-RIPO has infected the tumor cells, it begins killing off their host as well as recruiting the body’s immune system to respond and attack the tumor.
The development of PVS-RIPO has been in the works for 25 years and is at present time in the Human Clinical Trial phase. Human trials are scheduled to finalise in 2018, however early results are extremely promising for treating Recurrent Glioblastoma.
